Quick Summary

In this short guide, you’ll learn how to convert Fantom to Sonic using:

  • The Sonic Migration Portal
  • A third-party bridge

In August 2024, the Fantom team announced a major rebrand to Sonic, a next-generation EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain platform. After months of development, the Sonic chain’s mainnet officially launched in December 2024. A key part of this transition is swapping your Fantom (FTM) coins for Sonic’s S token, which rolled out in January 2025 at a 1:1 exchange rate.

If you are holding Fantom tokens, they need to be converted to Sonic. You have multiple ways to swap, depending on whether your FTM is stored in a Web3 wallet or on a centralized exchange (CEX). Sonic Labs has made the process as simple as possible so you can upgrade your assets without hassle.

To swap FTM for S, you can use the Sonic Fantom Migration Portal on Sonic Labs’ official website.

Step 1

Go to my.soniclabs.com/upgrade and connect your Web3 wallet.

Step 2

Enter the amount of FTM you want to convert.

Step 3

Verify the swap details, pay the fee, and approve the transaction. Once confirmed, your new Sonic balance will instantly appear in your wallet.

If you use hardware wallets, you can convert your Fantom tokens by downloading the Rabby wallet extension or mobile app and connecting it to your Ledger wallet. Navigate to “Add an Address,” select “Hardware Wallet,” and choose a hardware wallet to connect to. Next, access the portal at Sonic Labs, connect your Rabby wallet, and follow the steps above.

Several platforms such as Kraken and Crypto.com provide seamless bridging from FTM to Sonic. MEXC, Bybit, and Bitget also facilitate conversions. OKX Wallet has already completed the token migration; you can find your new Sonic (S) assets on OKX under My Assets.

No matter how you hold your FTM, Sonic Labs has made the transition quick and hassle-free. As Sonic continues to expand its ecosystem, migrating your FTM now ensures you’re ready to take full advantage of the network’s future developments.
