OpenSea is the biggest and most famous NFT marketplace online. It allows users to mint, purchase, sell, and auction NFTs, all from the convenience of one interface. Originally created for NFT collections on Ethereum, it now supports NFTs on multiple blockchains, including Avalanche and Solana.
All you need to buy an NFT are:
Here’s how you do it:
Search for OpenSea.io in your browser.
You can choose from the top or trending NFT collections or scroll down to browse by category.
Another option is to click on “Explore” and select a category from the drop-down list.
The sidebar lets you filter the results.
If you have a specific NFT collection in mind, use the search bar on top.
Collections can contain thousands of NFTs. You can search by name or attribute to find the one you like. You can also sort them by price and date or set a specific price range.
Once you find an NFT you like, add it to your cart or buy it immediately. You can also make an offer that is different from the price listed. Just take note that others can outbid you if you choose to make an offer.
Next, OpenSea will then require you to connect your wallet. For this tutorial, we will use MetaMask.
If you lack funds for the purchase, you will see a pop-up like this one. To proceed, either add funds via credit card or send crypto to your MetaMask wallet.
By default, MetaMask is set to Ethereum. If you want to purchase an NFT on Polygon, or another blockchain supported by MetaMask, OpenSea will prompt you to switch networks when you click “Add to Cart.”
On the other hand, if you want to buy an NFT on Solana or another blockchain not supported by MetaMask, you will have to switch to another wallet. Click “Buy now”, and a pop-up will prompt you to connect a wallet that supports Solana.
If you have enough funds, complete and approve the purchase.
A prompt will inform you if the transaction is successful. Click “View item” to view your NFT now.
You will be redirected to your profile to view your NFT collection.
With its robust features and unmatched number of NFTs to choose from, it’s no wonder that OpenSea is often the go-to marketplace for anyone who wants to start building an NFT collection. Just repeat the steps above and grow yours today!
